G9 in J. Crew as Collaboration Nears

Our waxed-cotton, tartan-lined G9 Jacket is exclusive in the U.S. to the uber cool J. Crew and features in their Holiday Catalogue. Above is a sneak preview that The Style List got their hands on (the catalogue is out on 2nd December).

Mickey Drexler and J. Crew team arrived at the Baracuta HQ earlier in the year to plan out our collaboration project for 2010 – So watch this space!

Baracuta Gets the ‘Drapers’ Seal of Approval

This week our newly opened Covent Garden Shop got reviewed for its service, visual merchandising & store design by John Ryan of Drapers.

Drapers Verdict – 33 Out of 50: “A pop-up store that neither looks nor acts like a pop-up. As this is only around for three months, best visit now if you want to see how this trick has been pulled off on such a small budget.”

Great considering the shop was fitted out in a day and cost just £4k – a sum that might buy you a single fixture in certain stores!

Baracuta Shop Opens in No.9 Shorts Gardens, London

Baracuta is delighted to announce the opening of our ‘pop up’ shop at Number 9 Shorts Gardens – Located just off the Seven Dials district of Covent Garden, London. The shop is open for business on the 6th November and is open for 3 months only – so if you find yourself in London Town ‘pop in’ and check out the full Baracuta AW09 Collection.

The nearest tube station is Covent Garden, which is only 4 minutes walk away so if you’re in the neighbourhood please call in and say hello.

Jackets Worn by the King & McQueen!

A great feature in ‘The Times’ today saw our G9 Morrissey Melton Jacket & our fantastic Comme Des Garcon Collaboration Jacket star in their ‘Brand Watch’ piece. The article focused on the Baracuta Heritage and the greats to have adorned the famous G9 Jacket, such as: ‘the King’, Elvis Presley; ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’, Frank Sinatra; and ‘the King of Cool’ himself, Steve McQueen.

The article featured the iconic front cover of the July 1963 edition of ‘Life Magazine’ with Steve McQueen riding his motorbike in his G9 Jacket with his wife, actress Neile Adams.

Baracuta Shop Pops Up Again & Again

People just can’t stop spreading the good news that we’ve opened a new Pop-Up Shop in 9 Shorts Gardens, London. USA Today, Disorder Mag, Seven Dials, The Chic Geek, WeAreTheMarket.com and this article on GQ.com holler from the rooftops that Baracuta’s first-ever standalone store has opened its doors for the first time today.

In the words of GQ “pop-up shops may come and go but iconic brands remain. And Baracuta , British maker of the definitive G9 Harrington jacket as worn by screen icons from Steve McQueen to Daniel Craig (pictured), is one such brand”.
